What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy, often referred to as talk therapy, is a collaborative process between a client and a trained mental health professional.
It provides a safe and confidential space to explore emotional challenges, build coping strategies, and work toward personal growth and healing[1]. Therapy can help with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and self-esteem.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally distressed, therapy can be a helpful step.
Many people seek therapy for support through life transitions, emotional struggles, identity exploration, or to better understand themselves. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy—it's a space for reflection, growth, and emotional support.
What happens in a therapy session?
Sessions typically involve open, guided conversations where you can share your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a non-judgmental setting.
I may offer insights, ask questions, or use techniques from cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, or feminist-informed therapy depending on your needs and goals. Each session is tailored to meet you where you are in your journey.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies from person to person.
Some clients attend for a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper healing and personal development[2]. We will discuss your goals together and decide on a pace and frequency that works for you.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
Currently, I offer secure, confidential online therapy sessions to clients throughout Canada.
This allows for greater flexibility, accessibility, and comfort—all from the privacy of your own space[3].
Is therapy confidential?
Yes.
Everything shared in therapy is strictly confidential, with a few legal exceptions such as if someone is at risk of harm[4]. Your privacy and trust are deeply respected, and we’ll review confidentiality in more detail during your first session.
What issues do you specialize in?
I work with clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, body image concerns, self-worth issues, and identity exploration.
I also offer affirming support for LGBTQ+ individuals and those navigating gender or cultural identity challenges[5].
How long are sessions?
50 minutes is our standard length.
Extended therapy sessions are available upon request.
How do I book a session?
You can book a free 15-minute consultation call directly through the Contact page.
This is a great way to ask questions, share what you're looking for, and get a feel for how I work before committing to a full session.
What is your cancellation policy?
Missed appointments, late cancellations and last-minute reschedules impact our ability to be available to you.
Therefore, our clinic has a 48-hour cancellation policy to allow for rebooking. Cancellations and reschedules made within the 48 hours are subject to full session fees.
What should I expect from the first session?
In our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and go over confidentiality and policies.
It’s a chance for you to get comfortable and ask any questions. There’s no pressure—this time is about you feeling heard and supported[6].
What are your fees and do you offer sliding scale options?
My standard session rate is $175, and I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need.
Please reach out during your consultation call if affordability is a concern—I believe therapy should be accessible.
Still have questions?
I’m happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
